and they forget this exists
Rwd, manual, 2+2 coupe, blah blah blah.
Sure it's a bit chunkier but .106 power to weight vs the BRZ's .071

I was under the impression that these handled like shit.

would rather have a miata......better yet a s2k

They handle like shit and look the part, especially the new 'revised' ones.

I'd agree with you if we're looking for used. but if new.. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the ND vs both the Brz and Gen Coupe.. Seems like it's in a different class. Once age sets in they'll be more comparative.

But once you buy a Korean car you are banned from every buying a Japanese car again.

I've heard it go both ways. I do know the base/grand touring have very different suspensions from the track and R Spec. But poor handling can always be made up with more POWAAAAAH

Personally, I would buy a Genesis or Mustang before buying a BRZ... and I am a former Subaru enthusiast.
Genesis Coupe still has to get over it's looks, which is a bit unfortunate. The facelift didn't help much, and the sagging rear quarter window is an oddity. (BMW I3 tried it a second time, and it still looks odd.)
Now Mustang has a bit less trouble with looks, and packs 3 engines... Turbo I4, 300+ hp V6, and a 5.0 V8.
Genesis Coupe is missing the V8 option, which the Sedan actually has.
But the big drawbacks to all of those cars...
None of those offer a hatchback to properly be cargo-versatile, like my old Probe GT and Fox Mustang hatchback were.
None of them offer the AWD that my SVX had (or a Subaru 2.5RS Impreza coupe, Talon TSi, Dodge Stealth/3000GT VR4, etc...), for all-season supremacy.
RWD is a bit dicey for a daily commuter in the snow belt, and FWD is generally inferior (the only think I really didn't like about the Probe GT)
AWD isn't really available except on the crate-shaped Golf, or otherwise stepping up above the average-car price points, to Audi or Porsche... both more expensive when new, and more expensive to support as used when out-of-warranty.
A fastback hatchback isn't really available except on the *horribly deformed and ugly* 370Z. A car that makes a Genesis Coupe's looks less problematic.
I just wish a sport coupe would hit the bullseye. All of them seem to miss one way or another.

Why not the new Eco Boost Mustang as well? Or a '14 V6 with the Handling pack?

I bought a Korean car then bought a Japanese car

It's as if no one is interested in modifying their cars anymore. There are like a dozen turbo and supercharger kits for the 86.
Then you've got power and balance.

There's a decent chance both my cars get totalled by hail today anyways

If I cared about power I'd get this.

Buy a BRZ, complain about power
Buy a Genesis Coupe, complain about everything else.

I was hoping for that. Not complaining, I just notice you tend to have lengthy replies.

I've driven a Genesis 2.0T R-spec. It doesn't really feel that sporty.
![]() 04/08/2015 at 12:13 |

I've only driven one but yeah it was pretty crap. Hyundai is doing that thing that a lot of new sport cars are doing with steering which is substituting any form of feel with weight. I can only imagine the conversation goes like this "this car has no steering feel"-engineer 1, "it's ok we will just make the steering as heavy as possible then people will think the steering is good and 'sporty' "-engineer 2.
That crap drives me up the wall, EPS is not to blame either, an RX8 has fairly light EPS steering and it's sublime when you start pushing it.

The front is also atrocious to put it nicely.
The only way I would ever buy a Genesis would be if they put the 5.0L R Spec package and motor (obviously) from the sedan into the coupe. Do you here me Hyundai?? I would have bought one if you had done this!!!!!!
![]() 04/08/2015 at 16:47 |

The front I like... But that's what I always here... And the penis windows. But the front end I like - shure it's busy and has a big grille but it has a low and wide expression to it. The first gen was too bland in my opinion, though I do like it.. hell I even bought one, but that could be in comparison to the 2nd gen.
The demands for a 5.0 Gen Coupe have fallen on deaf ears. First they scrapped the Turbo 2.0L because they want to be a more sophisticated and luxury brand.. even though MB, Audi and I'm pretty sure Lexus all have Turbo 4 Bangers.
BUT - there are rumors about a twin turbo v6 on its way...
![]() 04/08/2015 at 17:05 |

NOPE!! Fuck that, I work at a Hyundai dealer and I tell my Hyundai Rep, I will buy one if you guys make it with the 5.0L R-Spec. No V6TT will change that. Its the only way I could ever live with myself for buying a Hyundai.

it does make me feel like the only reason they aren't is because model cannibalism. Even though the sedan is way off from being anything like the coupe. Why they share the same name and 0 similarities I don't understand.

It's better-ish than the other mediocre cars it was built to compete against at the time.
